NEW Charter Terminal approved

This will be built where the GA terminal and vacant block currently stand.

Brisbane Airport's New Terminal Gets Government Green Light A A A Media Release WT049/2013 23 December 2013 Brisbane Airport's new multi-million dollar charter terminal has been given the all clear for construction by the Australian Government.

Acting Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure and Regional Development Warren Truss said the new terminal will bring General Aviation operators together into a single building, improving useability for charter and Fly-In Fly-Out operators, and enabling smoother operations within the General Aviation precinct.

“Construction of the new General Aviation terminal will begin in early 2014 with completion expected in 2015,” Mr Truss announced today.

“Works will include a two storey terminal building with four gates for passenger departures and arrivals, five interchangeable passenger lounges and a VIP lounge. There will also be parking for staff and a passenger drop off/pick up zone for taxis, buses and private vehicles.

“This new terminal is part of the Brisbane Airport Corporation's $4.2 billion 20-year infrastructure program to meet bourgeoning demand.

“The airport is a vital transport and business centre, as the gateway to South East Queensland that expedites tourism, trade and economic activity across the region and, indeed, for the state and nation.

“By 2015, yearly passenger movements through this new facility are expected to top 119,000, rising to 270,000 a year by 2028.

“These works are essential to ensure for Brisbane Airport to cater for this passenger growth. Once completed, this new terminal will be a lasting boost for travellers, workers and to the city of Brisbane.

“The charter terminal development will create 20 new jobs during the pre-construction phase and 50 jobs during the construction phase—adding to the existing 20,600 jobs across the airport.” Brisbane Airport has 50 business days to make the major development plan public.

Following the departure of Emirates EK434 to Auckland today, operated by Airbus A380 A6-EDE, it was reported that there was surface damage to the threshold area of runway 19. Only aircraft up to and including Boeing 737-700 size continued to land on the smaller cross runway 14. Departing aircraft were unnafected by using an intersection departure at taxiways A3 or A4. ALOHA more Hawaiian

SOURCE Hawaiian Airlines.

Hawaiian Airlines to Add Fourth Flight to Weekly Brisbane Service HONOLULU - December 4, 2013 - Travelers from Hawai'i and the U.S. Mainland who want to visit Australia's "Sunshine State" will have some extra schedule options next year. In response to booming demand from both U.S. and Aussie travelers, Hawaiian Airlines will be adding a fourth flight to its weekly non-stop service schedule between Honolulu and Brisbane, beginning March 31, 2014. The expansion will add more than 20,000 seats to the Australia-Honolulu travel markets in 2014.

"We recently celebrated one year as the only U.S. carrier to offer non-stop service to Brisbane, and the response we've received since then has exceeded our expectations," said Peter Ingram, Hawaiian's executive vice president and chief commercial officer. "The schedule expansion is part of our ongoing plans to grow our Oceania market, allowing more Aussie travelers to visit the Hawaiian Islands via Honolulu and connect to any of our 11 U.S. destination gateways. The expansion also provides U.S. travelers more options and more of a reason to visit Australia."

After the fourth flight is added to the weekly service, Hawaiian Airlines plans to also adjust the days of operation for the Brisbane route beginning Apr. 14, 2014:

Flight Route Departs Arrives From March 31, 2014 to April 13 2014

HA 443 arr BNE 1600 HRS Tue,Wed,Thur,Sun Dep at 1835 as HA 444.

From 14 April 2014 HA 443 arrives Tue,Thur,Saturdays and Sundays at 1600 out at 1835 as HA 444.

Hawaiian Airlines launched non-stop service to Brisbane in November 2012 and at the time projected an approximate 41,000 seats would be added to both travel markets from the route. Thanks to popular demand, Hawaiian Airlines has exceeded that expectation, transporting more than 65,000 passengers between Brisbane and Honolulu to date.

Hawaiian Airlines is the only U.S. carrier that flies to Brisbane, capital city of the State of Queensland and known as the "Sunshine State," which also serves as a key hub for onward travel throughout Australia. Its flight schedule to Brisbane allows travelers to connect with same-day flights throughout Queensland and to other states through a partner airline carrier. The route is operated by Hawaiian Airlines' wide-body, twin-aisle Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, seating 264 passengers in a two-class cabin, with 18 in Business Class and 246 in the Main Cabin.

Tickets can be purchased online at, by calling Hawaiian Airlines' reservations department toll-free at 1-800-367-5320, or through any professional travel agent.
